Sustainability at Florence Factory
— Local, Ethical, Circular —
You don’t need another thing; you need the right thing. Sustainability here isn’t a label on a window. It’s a way to choose, wear, and keep what you buy—so it lives with you, not in a landfill.
Small, local, sustainable
Environmental — Fewer Kilometers, Fewer Leftovers, Smarter Materials
We work only with small local artisans—about 40 in total—so the whole cycle happens within a few kilometers of Florence. We produce as little as possible to avoid leftovers, and we favor circular materials: selected leathers and fabrics upcycled from luxury-brand offcuts; candles poured in social workshops that recycle wax and give work to people who need it. The result: less waste, more value.

Micro is bold
Social — Local Benches, Global Voices
Your piece is made in Florence by people who’ve made the city home. Our artisans come from all over the world; many are women who chose Florence for its beauty and for its craftsmanship heritage. We also support solidarity labs where craft opens doors. And our knitwear is truly hand-made by highly specialized workers—skills that are getting rare, and worth preserving.
micro-producers, women-led in majority
inclusion through work (social labs)
rare hand skills kept alive (hand-stitched leather, hand-knit, bookbinding)
Circolar economy
Economic — Fair Prices, No Marketing Mark-ups
You don’t pay for billboards. Our prices are a transparent balance between the needs of artisans and designers, the costs of careful curation & retail, and what’s fair to you. No race to the bottom; no vanity pricing. Just honest materials, time at the bench, and longevity.
fair to makers, fair to you
value built on quality & lifespan
no heavy marketing overheads
The human effect
Why Artisans & Local Shops vs Big Brands
When you buy from local artisans, you fund time, skill, and autonomy. Each tiny variation is a human trace—a piece that will shape to you and age with grace; your money stays in the territory, strengthening a resilient micro-economy.
Big brands—even Italian ones—often mean industrial production, long supply chains, stock pressure, and marketing weight baked into the price. That can be fine, but it’s a different story.
Local = uniqueness, proximity, visible impact.
Big brand = standardization, volume, distance.
